Meca L. Walker
Former Associate Judge (2007-2016, 2019)
Meca was raised in Cypress Texas and is a proud graduate of Cy-Fair High School. She received her B.A. from Clark Atlanta University (Atlanta, GA) and she received her J.D. from Howard University School of Law (Washington, DC). Meca returned to Houston and began a family law practice in January 2000. Her law firm, Walker & Waller, PLLC had offices in Houston and Washington, DC. She handled transactional work, litigation, and mediations until 2007, when she received her first appointment to become a member of the Texas Judiciary.
Meca has the distinct honor of serving as the Associate Judge in the 309th District Court, then in the 247th District Court, and finally in the 311th District Court. She served as an Associate Judge for almost 10 years, and while serving on the bench, she consistently received one of the highest judicial ratings by the Houston Bar Association Judicial Preference Polls. The Texas Executive Women honored her as a “Woman on the Move” and in 2015 she received the prestigious Pathway to Excellence Award from the Clark Atlanta University Alumni Association. Meca is one of the few lawyers who is licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court, and she is one of the few lawyers who is a member of the Texas Bar College, an honor society of lawyers and judges who obtain at least double the CLE required by the State Bar of Texas. Meca served as the President of the Board for the Texas Bar College, and she currently serves on the Board for Texas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
